OK so I went a long time, forgot all about it, and meanwhile there were 2 new episodes of Metalocalypse.

Luckily, I found this package deal with all 3 and some songs to boot, which is pretty nifty.

Well tonight I watched “Haute Tension” aka “High Tension” aka “Switchblade Romance” because I had gone a very very very long while without seeing a horror movie because well… they are fucking stupid.

As a preamble here’s why I think horror movies are fucking stupid. There’s no story to speak of, actors are only required to be able to grimace, make crying faces and shriek, and the whole premise of a horror movie is based on stupidity and a base carnal need. There is nothing mentally stimulating about a horror movie, and I even fail to see the entertainment value of them. I’d rather watch American Pie again.

So I figured I would give this “High Tension” movie a chance, if for nothing else, then because 2 hot chicks wanted to see it, and I don’t really give a shit about what we are conglomerating around, as long as we are.

Well I was sort of relieved when after 5 minutes I was disappointed of the movie. I had already figured out where it would go, and even how it would end. Why? BECAUSE IT’S BEEN DONE BE-FUCKING-FORE. Texas Chainsaw Fucking Massacre, in a new wrapper. Again.

And as I came home, now, several hours earlier I started to think about it again. “There has got to be someone else out there with a brainstem that thought this movie was a steaming pile of recycled fucking bullshit” I thought.

But at first glance, it seems horror fans are bereft of basic cognition. There’s lights in the garage, but the car is fucking stolen.

The film forsakes substance in favour of masses of tension and the result is a film that is guaranteed to get your heart racing.

No substance you say? Well then, surely you gave it a bad rating. There are plenty movies that manage to give you tension with plenty substance. I call them “Good movies”.

Oh, you gave it a nine out of ten you say? Well, I stand corrected.

I am pleased to report that Switchblade Romance features what is maybe the most brutal chainsaw scene ever!

I must possess this, no one else shall own it.

So.

In short.

I still fucking hate horror movies. And I still think American Pie has more brains than any of them. It’s just that fucking retarded.

I always liked this band, for some strange reason. I’m not really much of a punk rock fan, but these guys are pretty damn good. I haven’t listened to them for probably 6 years, but the other day I remembered them and got hold of the album that struck a chord with me, oh so many years ago called “Straight Ahead”.

I was even more surprised that even after all those years, I find the album enjoyable to listen to, and the songs “Alien”, “Victim of reality”, “Still can be great”, “Watch me as I fall”, “American Dream” and more are just timeless to me. Alot of music I liked when I was younger faded as I grew older, sort of like the magic of the epic hero cartoons they used to show on Cartoon Network. But then again some things never go out of style.

So I thought I’d share this one with you, seeing as I found it really worthwhile.

Pennywise – Straight Ahead (1999)

I recently came over a piece of great nostalgia for me, a great collection of Tom and Jerry cartoons. The oldest ones, you know, before Chuck Jones got involved, dropped acid and hired alot of fucking percussionists. The only true Tom and Jerry cartoons. To me anyway.

I remember when I was still in elementary, the earliest years, some times I would ditch classes and go to my aunts place because she had satelite and got Cartoon Network, and I would watch. And some times, between the epic fantasy hero cartoons (which I also miss), they would show these classic Tom and Jerry cartoons, which they some times do even to this day.

So here it is.

Often times you find yourself confronted with that question. Well some times the genres requested, or the bands used to make comparisons are just too fucking obscure for even me, even though I pride myself of being much of a musical omnivore.

But I have a cure for it, that so far has worked well for me. But then, the part about me being a musical omnivore might be a big factor in that. But it seems not only I find this site to be “the shizzles”, no it’s very universally accepted.

The jargon they use to describe the hits are pretty pompous though, but I ask you to look beyond that. I just did a search for it to find something like “Enslaved and Condemned” by Old Man’s Child and it gave me a fuckton of stuff by alot of bands (like MindGrinder, Demiricous, Gorgoroth, Dimmu Borgir, Vital Remains, If Hope Dies etc etc etc). Even though I had heard alot of it before, I’d say they’re pretty accurate.

So you know how I got banned from another Counter-Strike server. Well, it appears as though the admins here have a little something under their bonnet this time.

Initially they banned me for 9999999 minutes (this translates to something like 19.7 years). I managed to keep my cool and inquire as to why I was banned for so long and they responded with “Oh don’t worry, we just had a suspicion at that particular time that you were using no recoil cheats. We will all review the demos and get back to you.”

And lo and behold, 24 hours later they get back to me saying “You’re unbanned, sorry for the inconvenience.”

The moral here is that this was a Norwegian server, with Norwegian admins. The previous was a swedish server, with swedish admins. Meaning the swedes are fucking retarded, and Norwegians not so much.

OK first off, Disney/Pixar’s Cars. You know what Pixar is like, they don’t do anything unless they know they can do it right. I found this movie pretty damn excellent.

Second off, Ultimate Avengers 1 and 2. Now, I’ll be honest here. These movies are hardly milestones in cinematographical history, but you know what they actually had me pretty entertained. The voice acting is actually pretty good too. If you like superhero comics, then you’ll probably like these movies.

Next up, Monster House. Now I’ll be honest with you here too, I haven’t seen it yet, only inspected it for visual quality (checks out, remarkably good for a Cam release). But reviews look good and Steve Buscemi is in it. I’ve not seen a movie with Steve Buscemi in it that wasn’t good yet, so I chanced it. In fact I am about to head out and buy snacks and watch this movie as soon as I am done writing this post.

Last up, another movie I haven’t seen yet, but let’s hope this is the only fucking movie ever that breaks the chain of SuperDuper first movie, crappy fucking sequel (except Lilo and Stitch 2, which was not excellent, but atleast not utter crap like say Atlantis 2). I heard good things about it.
