“You won’t get anywhere without knowing how to derive a vector”, my math teacher once told me when I was in high-school. He wasn’t the joking sort, nor was he fond of irony. But none of us got particularily worried about the future, none of us pictured life at the bottom of the foodchain, lodging in a shelter with needle-scar ridden arms and a battery of methadone bottles within grasping reach. Certainly not over lack of math skills.
He only said it once. But on less than rare occasions, and with an infinitely larger amount of credibility, he would say “mathematics is the queen of science”.

How many from my class are making a living out of mathematics today? Quite few, though more than I imagined. But I am willing to bet a well stored bottle of red wine and a chubby Davidoff cigar that most of us, every now and then, benefit from it.

I got a car a while back, and got it checked with I guess the norwegian equivilant of the DMV. They gave me a list of things that needed to be fixed, and amongst them were the headlights. They shone at an off angle. So I thought about how I should fix that for a while, and then I remembered my trigonometry. I knew I was dealing with a straight angle, but I also needed the angle between the flow of light, and the pavement. I can’t remember how I went about getting that, but it’s not exactly a military secret, so anybody should be able to google it up or just ask around. We’ll call this angle Alpha.

I set my car up in the garage, measured the distance between the wall and the headlights, we’ll call this distance B, and made a chalk-line where the light would hit the wall if it shone straight ahead.
Now I had a trigonometric equation with one unknown – tan(Alpha) = X : B ? in a jiffy, armed with my trusty TI 83 Plus, I figured out what X had to be, and adjusted the headlights so that the distance between my chalk line and where the light actually shone equaled X.

Now, of course I could have just sent it to the shop, but my economy as of right now is rather lacking. Plus is was satisfying to solve a problem with a method that my friends compared to magic. Black magic, at that.

When I was 8 years old, in 2nd grade of norwegian compulsory school, we all knew the multiplication tables. Some people I know that are 14-16 years old today still do now know it, thanks to a school reform made in -97 by the newly elected left wing prime minister and his party. Now this reform teaches children it’s not worth the effort to cram.
Most, and I really mean around 95%, of the teachers in our lower level compulsory schools are women. They are more concerned about “social skills”, walks in the forest, and modern teaching philosophies than the classes they are supposed to teach. They shun math, linguistics and studies with actual macro-social impact like they shun dandruff and split ends. They even say math promotes capitalism, and that social studies promotes radicalism.

There’s a limit to what socialism should be allowed to do to kids. Depriving them of any potentially valuable knowledge just to make them go prance about in the woods is clearly not acceptable. And as I have shown you in my example, ALL knowledge can be applied to practical use. You just have to imagine it.

Finally home. The past 2 weeks straight I have been standing up and down at work making element walls in a jig. Same work, day in and day out, on shoes with steel soles. They fucking hurt, when you have to stand on them 7 hours a day. Sure, I’ll love them if I ever in my life time step on a nail, but until then, I hate them.

The past 2 weeks, I’ve either had too much sleep, or I’ve had far from enough. As a result, my mind has been grunged all the time, and I’ve just been looking forward to my next period of sleep more than anything else. And when I’ve gotten home and start thinking about dinner, the prospect of having to stand up for another half hour makes me resort to whatever is on the table already until I’ve rested my weary feet. Usually this is either potato chips, cigarettes, coca cola??? or all of the above.

I’m starting to become really skinny. I should eat more crap food, and gain some body fat, because right now I’m just skin covering bones and a miniscule amount of muscle. I don’t look so hot at all.

Ironically, at this time the amount of Weight-loss pills and excercize miracle-machine spams to my e-mail is reaching an all-time high. That’s marketing and demographics for you, kids.

Since the torrent I posted of a collection of Milena Velba videos apparently doesn’t work according to multiple sources, I guess I will find a way to bring it to the people. Meaning a reseed. Shortly.

But first, I shall find imagery.

Hackerbots really suck ass. I need to get rid of this fucking b2, or upgrade it to a secure version. I’d upgrade to wordpress, but it seems like alot of fucking work for a drunk man.

My webhost said he’d look into it for me, seeing as how he is kickass in all things, and he is probably getting sick of repairing my index.php.
